This is the 5-in-1, and the fifth thing is the one that matters: it comes with two sizes of Coanda curler rather than one. 24mm for tighter curls and shorter hair, 32mm for loose waves and longer hair. Four barrels in total.
The Coanda effect is what does the work. Fast air across a curved surface clings to it, and that pull draws a section of hair onto the barrel and wraps it without you winding it on. CoandaBoost is Shark's stronger wrap force, for a curl that holds its shape.
Alongside the curlers: a FrizzFighter High Shine Polisher for smoothing the hair's surface, an Oval Brush for root volume, and a Styling Concentrator for controlled drying. The dryer itself is ionic, pushing 200 million negative ions through the airflow to settle frizz and static.
Scalp Shield Mode adjusts the temperature to protect new growth. The AirSet button pauses the airflow on a double tap so a curl can be placed without being blown about, and gives cool air on a single tap to set it.

What is the difference between this and the 4-in-1?
This 5-in-1 comes with two sizes of Coanda curler — 24mm and 32mm, four barrels in all — and a storage case. The 4-in-1 (HD840UKPU) has only the 32mm pair and a storage bag. Everything else is the same.
Which curler size should I use?
24mm gives a tighter curl and suits shorter hair; 32mm gives a looser wave and suits longer hair. Both pairs are in the box.
What is the Coanda effect?
Fast-moving air clings to a curved surface. Shark use that to draw hair onto the barrel and wrap it, so you are not winding hair on by hand.
What does AirSet do?
A double tap pauses the airflow so a curl can be positioned without blowing apart; a single tap gives a cool shot to set it.
Does it have a diffuser?
No. A separate model, HD851UKPK, is the version with a diffuser. This one is supplied with the attachments listed above.
How heavy is it?
0.68kg, light enough to reach the back of your own head comfortably.
