Roughneck Gorilla Block Buster Bolster, 230mm (9in)
A bolster designed around the two things that go wrong when you are cutting block by hand: the blow lands badly, or it lands on your hand. The handle is set at 90° to the striking area, so your hand sits well out of the hammer's path, and the striking anvil is a full 30mm — a big enough target that you are not aiming at a pencil end with a lump hammer.
The 230mm blade is hardened, tempered, ground and polished, with a powder-coated finish, and it is laser etched with 100mm lines so you can mark and cut off the tool itself instead of going back for a tape. The handle is a triple-injected soft grip.
It is made for cutting blocks and bricks cleanly, and it also does the demolition jobs a bolster gets used for anyway — lifting wall and floor tiles, taking off external render, and chasing channels in blockwork for recessed pipe and cable.

Why is the handle at an angle?
So the hand holding the bolster is not in line with the face you are hitting. On a straight bolster, a missed swing lands on your knuckles.
What hammer should I use with it?
A lump or club hammer. The 30mm anvil is sized to take that kind of blow.
What are the lines on the blade for?
They are etched at 100mm intervals, so you can measure and mark a cut straight off the tool rather than reaching for a tape every time.
Will it cut a concrete block in one go?
The 230mm blade spans a standard block, which is what lets you score and split it in a controlled line rather than chipping across it. Score both faces before you commit.
Do I need eye protection?
Yes. Cutting block and brick throws chips, and struck steel faces can spall. Safety glasses are not optional on this one.
