The SE2 Spot Care is a spray extraction cleaner, not a steamer. It sprays a cleaning solution deep into the fibres and then sucks it straight back out again, carrying the dirt and most of the moisture with it. That is why a stain lifted with this machine does not reappear a day later as a ring — the dirt leaves the fabric instead of being pushed further into it.
It is built for spot work rather than whole-room carpet cleaning: a 450 W motor, a 1.5 litre fresh water tank and a separate 0.8 litre dirty water tank, so clean and dirty water never mix. The 88 mm upholstery nozzle and the stain brush are sized for sofa cushions, car seats, mattresses, rugs, stair runners and the patch of hall carpet that takes the brunt of the weather.
With a 1.8 m suction hose on a 4.5 m cable you get a 6.3 m working radius from a single socket, which reaches most of a room or the whole interior of a car. A 100 ml bottle of Kärcher RM 519 carpet and upholstery cleaner is in the box to get you started, and the hose and accessories store on the machine so it goes back in the press as one piece.

Is this a steam cleaner?
No. The SE2 Spot Care is a spray extraction cleaner. It sprays a water and cleaning solution mix into the fabric and immediately vacuums it back out along with the dirt, rather than heating water into steam. For hard floors, tiles and grout, a steam cleaner such as the Kärcher SC3 is the machine you want; for fabric, this is.
What can I use it on?
Upholstery, car seats, mattresses, rugs, stair runners and carpet — anything with a textile surface that can take moisture. Test an out-of-the-way patch first, especially on older or delicate fabrics.
How long does the fabric take to dry?
Because the machine pulls most of the moisture straight back out, the fabric is left damp rather than wet. Drying time depends on the fabric, how heavily soiled it was and how warm and airy the room is, so leave the window open and give it time before putting cushions back.
Do I need to buy cleaning solution for it?
A 100 ml bottle of Kärcher RM 519 carpet and upholstery cleaner comes in the box. Refills of RM 519 are available separately when you run out.
How big an area can it do in one go?
It holds 1.5 litres of clean water and 0.8 litres of dirty water, so it is sized for spots, cushions and seats rather than cleaning a whole house of carpet in one pass. Empty the dirty tank and refill the clean one and carry on.
