Faithfull Socket Polarity Tester with RCD Test
A plug-in tester that tells you in a second whether a socket is wired correctly. It fits the standard 3-pin BS 1363 socket used throughout Ireland and the UK. Push it in, and three neon indicators for live, neutral and earth show, in five combinations, whether the wiring is right or wrong.
It also carries an RCD test button. Pressing it deliberately leaks 30mA to earth through the circuit, which should trip any RCD rated at 30mA or less. The published trip window is 60-300ms. That checks the RCD actually works, rather than just assuming it does because the board has one fitted.
The LCD gives a true ground error indication where dangerous contact voltage is present on the protective earth. Small enough to live in a toolbag - 77 x 67 x 66mm and 70g.

Will it fit Irish sockets?
Yes. It is made for the standard 3-pin BS 1363 socket, which is what is fitted throughout Ireland and the UK.
What does the RCD test button actually do?
It passes a deliberate 30mA leakage current to earth through the circuit. An RCD rated at 30mA or less should trip. If nothing happens, the RCD is not doing its job.
What do the lights tell me?
There are three neon indicators, one each for live, neutral and earth. The combination that lights up - five in all - tells you whether the socket is wired correctly, or which conductor is wrong or missing.
Will testing the RCD cut power to the rest of the house?
It trips whichever RCD protects that circuit, so anything else on the same RCD goes off with it. Test when it suits, not with the freezer mid-defrost.
Is this a substitute for a full installation test?
No. It is a quick go/no-go check on socket wiring and RCD operation, not a certified installation test.
