A straightforward 450W jug blender from Philips, built around their ProBlend system: a four-point stainless steel blade and a jar with ribs moulded into the inside wall that keep pushing ingredients back down into the blades instead of letting them ride up the sides.
One speed and a pulse setting on a rotary knob. The motor runs to 19,000rpm, which is enough to take ice down to fine pieces in about 45 seconds — so frozen fruit and ice for smoothies are within its range, not just soft ingredients.
The jar holds 1.9 litres to the brim, with a working capacity of 1 litre — that is the figure to go by when you are filling it, and it comes to about five 200ml glasses. Jar, lid and blades are all dishwasher safe.

One litre. The jar holds 1.9 litres to the brim, but the working capacity Philips give is 1 litre — around five 200ml glasses. Overfilling past that is how a blender ends up leaking out of the lid.
Will it crush ice?
Yes. Philips time it at around 45 seconds for eight ice cubes, using the pulse setting.
Is the jar glass or plastic?
Plastic. The glass jars in the Philips range are on different models, so do not assume from the series number.
Can it go in the dishwasher?
The jar, the lid and the blades can. The motor base is wiped clean, like any blender.
Does it come with a mill or grinder?
No. Some other versions of this blender include a grinder mill, but this one is the blender and jar only.
