A slow cooker does the thing an oven cannot: it leaves a tough cut of meat alone for eight hours and turns it into something tender. This one holds 3.5 litres, which Morphy Richards put at six starter portions or four main courses.
The inner pot is ceramic and removable, so it goes from the base to the table and then into the dishwasher. Both the pot and the toughened glass lid are dishwasher safe, which is most of the washing-up dealt with.
There are three settings — low runs 6 to 12 hours, medium 4 to 10 and high 3 to 8 — so you can set it to suit a working day or a Saturday afternoon. The handles stay cool to the touch, and it weighs 3.3kg with a 0.95m cord.
