Irwin Vise-Grip Nipper Pliers, 175mm (7in)
End cutters — the jaws meet at the very end of the tool rather than at the side, so you can cut flush against a surface. That is what makes them the tool for pulling and snipping nails, cutting tie wire off reinforcement, and taking the head off a fixing that has no head left to grip.
The cutting edges are induction hardened, which keeps them sharp through work that blunts ordinary pliers quickly, and the jaws are machined for maximum gripping strength — these get used as much for gripping and twisting as for cutting. ProTouch grips on the handles for comfort over a long stretch.
175mm (7in), and TÜV/GS approved.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are nippers used for?
Cutting right at the surface. Because the jaws close at the end of the tool rather than the side, you can snip a nail or a wire flush to the timber instead of leaving a stub.
Will they pull nails as well as cut them?
Yes — that is half of what they get used for. Grip the shank close to the timber and roll the tool over on its jaws to lever the nail out.
Can I cut hardened wire or screws with them?
Soft wire, nails and pins, yes. Hardened steel — spring wire, hardened screws, masonry nails — will chip the edges on any nipper. Use a bolt cutter or a cutting disc for those.
What does TÜV/GS approved mean?
It is a German safety certification — the tool has been independently tested against the standard for hand tools of this type.
