Faithfull Power Plus RCD Safety Adaptor Plug
An RCD you can carry. It plugs into the wall, the tool plugs into it, and from then on it is watching the earth current continuously. If a fault appears — a chafed flex, a loose connection, water where it should not be — it cuts the power within 40 milliseconds, which is fast enough to prevent a fatal shock.
It matters most with portable mains tools: lawnmowers, hedge trimmers, drills, anything whose cable gets dragged across gravel, run over, or left out. Modern house wiring may already have RCD protection at the board, but older installations often do not — and a long extension lead out to the garden takes you a long way from it.
It works with any 240V appliance. Not for use on ponds — if it trips, pumps and aerators lose power with it.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does an RCD actually do?
It compares the current going out to the appliance with the current coming back. If some is going astray — through a person, or to earth — it cuts the supply before the shock can do fatal harm.
My house already has RCDs at the fuse board. Do I need this?
Not always. But older installations often have no RCD, and even in a newer house this puts the protection at the socket rather than back at the board — which is what you want when the flex you are standing on is 25 metres away.
Will it work with any appliance?
Any 240V appliance, yes. Faithfull particularly recommend it for portable power tools.
Why not on a pond?
Because if it trips while you are away, the pond pump and aerator stop with it. Pond equipment needs protection that does not leave the fish without circulation.
