Faithfull Fast Rewind Open Frame Long Tape 50m/165ft
A 50m / 165ft long tape for setting out, on a fibreglass blade rather than steel. Fibreglass does not kink, does not rust, and will not cut your hand when it snakes back across the ground. The blade is 13mm wide and marked in metric and imperial on the same face, so you read both off one side without flipping the tape over.
Open frame means exactly what it says: the reel is an open ABS cross rather than a sealed case. Two things follow from that. The blade rewinds faster, because the 4:1 geared handle is driving an open reel with nothing to drag against; and when the tape comes back in off wet ground you can get at it to wipe the mud off, instead of winding dirt into a closed case where it stays.
Set up for one person: a metal end hook at the far end and an integral ground spike you push into the ground and hook the frame over, so you can walk the tape out and read it on your own. The rewind handle folds away flat against the frame when you are carrying it. Accuracy is EC Class III.

What is the blade made of?
Fibreglass, 13mm wide. It does not rust, it is unaffected by damp and it will not take a sharp kink the way a steel long tape can.
Are the metric and imperial markings on the same side?
Yes. Both metric and imperial are printed on the same face, so you can read either without turning the blade over.
What does open frame mean in practice?
The reel is an open ABS frame rather than a closed case. It rewinds faster, and when the blade comes back in wet or muddy you can reach in and wipe it down rather than winding the dirt into a sealed body.
Can one person use it?
Yes. There is a metal hook on the end of the blade and a ground spike built into the frame, so you can anchor one end and walk the tape out on your own.
