DeWalt DCF99MP1T McLaren F1 High Torque Impact Wrench 18V, 5.0Ah Kit
A special edition McLaren F1 version of DeWalt's high torque impact wrench, in the McLaren colours. Under the paint it is a serious tool: 1396Nm maximum fastening torque and 1898Nm breakaway torque, which is the figure that matters when the nut has been on there for ten years.
The drive is a 1/2in square with a hog ring, so sockets change quickly without a detent pin to lose. The XR brushless motor allows a much shorter body than a brushed equivalent, which is what gets it into a wheel arch or a confined bracket.
The four-mode membrane switch is the useful part day to day. As well as the speed settings there is a Precision Wrench mode: it prevents over-tightening in forward, and stops nut run-off in reverse — so a loosened nut does not spin off and disappear into the grass. The variable trigger gives fine control, and the adjustable LED with brightness control lights what you are working on.
Supplied with: one 18V McLaren F1 5.0Ah Li-ion battery, one 18V McLaren F1 charger and a TSTAK-compatible carry case.

What is the difference between fastening and breakaway torque?
Fastening torque is how hard it can tighten — 1396Nm. Breakaway is how hard it can pull to undo something already seized — 1898Nm. The second number is the one that gets a stubborn nut moving.
What does Precision Wrench mode do?
In forward it eases off before over-tightening. In reverse it slows once the nut breaks free, so it does not spin off the thread and drop. Both save you fishing around on the ground.
Is it just a paint job?
The McLaren F1 edition is a special finish on a full-specification DeWalt high torque impact wrench — the performance figures are the tool's own, not a styling exercise.
Will the battery work in my other DeWalt tools?
Yes. It is a standard 18V XR 5.0Ah pack in McLaren colours, so it fits the rest of the 18V XR platform.
