The Tassimo's trick is that it reads the drink before it makes it. Every T DISC carries a barcode, and INTELLIBREW scans it and sets the water quantity, brewing time and temperature for that particular drink — so an espresso, a long coffee and a hot chocolate each get what they need without you choosing anything.
There is no warm-up time. The machine is ready when you are, which is the difference between making a coffee before work and not bothering. The 0.8 litre tank lifts out for filling.
Cleaning and descaling run as an automatic programme with an indicator light to tell you when, using the yellow Service T DISC that lives in the machine's own storage compartment.

What pods does it take?
Tassimo T DISCs only. They are not interchangeable with Nespresso, Dolce Gusto or any other system. T DISCs cover coffee, tea and hot chocolate across a range of brands, so the choice is wide within the system.
What does INTELLIBREW actually do?
Each T DISC has a barcode printed on it. The machine reads that barcode and applies the water quantity, brewing time and temperature the drink needs. You put the disc in and press the button; there is nothing to set.
Does it need to warm up first?
No. Bosch state the machine has no heat-up time, so it brews straight away.
How do I descale it?
It has an automatic cleaning and descaling programme and an indicator light to tell you when it is due. The yellow Service T DISC that comes with the machine is what runs it, and it stores in a compartment on the machine so it does not get lost.
Does it come with T DISCs to get started?
It comes with the yellow Service T DISC used for cleaning and descaling. Bosch do not publish a list of what else is in the box, so we have not claimed a starter pack of drinks — it is worth ordering T DISCs alongside it if you want to use it the day it arrives.
