Most filter machines fail on temperature. Water that is too cool under-extracts and the coffee tastes thin and sour; too hot and it turns bitter. This one holds 92 to 96°C throughout the brew, controlled by a water level sensor rather than a fixed timer, which is why it carries both the ECBC certification and the SCA Certified Home Brewer mark — independent laboratory testing against the Golden Cup Standard, not a marketing claim.
Bloom mode is the feature a coffee drinker will care about. Hold the button three seconds and it pre-wets the grounds and pauses, letting the coffee degas before the full brew starts. That is what you would do by hand with a pour-over, done automatically.
Two to ten cups, 250ml to 1.25 litres, a full pot in under six minutes. The 360 degree filter basket and round shower head wet the whole bed of coffee evenly instead of drilling a hole through the middle of it.
The hot plate is intelligent: it matches its power to how much you brewed, tapers off over 40 minutes so the pot is not stewed, and shuts off when you lift the carafe. There is an automatic drip stop for pouring mid-brew, and an illuminated water tank so you can see the level.
