The guessing game everyone already knows the rules to, with the character board handed over to Pokémon. Each player picks a mystery Pokémon in secret, then takes turns asking yes-or-no questions – is it a Fire type? does it have wings? – flipping down the ones that do not fit until only one is left standing.
There are 48 Pokémon in play across 8 Pokémon types, spread over two double-sided character sheets, so the line-up can be swapped when a game starts feeling too familiar. Knowing your types genuinely helps here, which puts a Pokémon-mad child on an unusually even footing with an adult.
It is a two-player game for ages 6 and up, takes about 15 minutes a round, and the fold-up cases clip together into one unit – so it travels well in a bag for a car journey or a holiday.
