This is three spelling games in one box — The Bookworm Game, Matilda's Word Grid Game and Matilda's Wordstack Game — each one building words from the same deck of letter cards, but each playing quite differently.

There are 100 letter cards to build with, 40 bookworm cards for scoring, and a one-minute sand timer that turns the Word Grid game into a proper scramble. Because the three games share the same components, children tend to work up through them: start with the gentlest, graduate to the one against the clock.

It is designed to back up spelling and word-building at Key Stage 1 and 2 level, which is the useful part for parents — it lines up with what is happening at school without announcing itself as homework.
