the-very-hungry-caterpillar-abc-game-in-a-tin
The Very Hungry Caterpillar ABC Game in a Tin

The Very Hungry Caterpillar ABC Game in a Tin

Eric Carle's caterpillar has been teaching small children to count for fifty years; here he takes on the alphabet. Players spin, move around the board and match letter cards, picking up capital and lower-case letters as they go. The real lesson hidden inside it is the difference between a big letter and a little one — a thing that is genuinely confusing at three and that this game teaches without ever feeling like a lesson.

It is a proper little board game rather than a flash-card set: a fold-out game board, a spinner, 52 cards and 4 playing pieces, all of it packed into a keepsake tin that a child can carry themselves. The tin is sturdy enough to survive a toy box and smart enough to give as a gift as it comes.

University Games recommend it for ages 3 and over. Alongside the letters, it quietly teaches counting, taking turns and waiting — all the things that make the next game easier to play.

Product Details

Alphabet board game featuring Eric Carle's The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Spin, move and match letter cards around the board

Teaches capital and lower-case letters side by side

Builds counting, turn-taking and letter recognition

52 cards, a spinner and 4 playing pieces

Presented in a collectable storage tin — no box to fall apart

Artwork taken from the original Eric Carle illustrations

Specifications

Brand: University Games

Model: U01282

Age: 3 years and over

Contents: Game board, spinner, 52 cards, 4 playing pieces and instructions, packed in a tin

Perfect For

Pre-schoolers aged 3 and up starting on letters

Children who already know and love the book

Christening, birthday and Christmas gifts that last

Playgroups, childminders and grandparents' houses

Learning through play at home before school starts

Explore Our Toy Collection

More pre-school games, puzzles and gift ideas from our toy department.

Pre-School

Early Years

Board Games

Games & Craft

Toys, Toys & Games

Beattys Toys by Toymaster

Gifts for Kids

Visit Us In Store

Call in to us in Loughrea, Co.
