Players race to collect the most hot dogs from the table — until Petey turns up, at which point every hot dog promptly goes into hiding and the round turns on its head. It is a game of quick decisions and quicker grabs, and it rarely lasts long enough for anyone to get bored.

The whole thing lives in a hot dog-shaped collectable tin, which is half the appeal. 64 cards and the instructions drop straight back in, the lid goes on, and it fits in a coat pocket, a schoolbag or a glovebox. That makes it a genuinely good game for a car journey, a waiting room or a café table.

University Games recommend it for ages 5 and over, playing with 2 to 4 players.
